Chance to Shine is a children\'s charity dedicated to harnessing the power of cricket to transform life prospects for young people in the UK. Our mission is for all young people to have the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket, find belonging, and grow wellbeing and life skills to fulfil their potential. Established in 2005, we have a long track record of delivering free programmes in state schools and under-served communities for young people and their families.
Role
It is an exciting time to join Chance to Shine as we grow our scale and deepen our impact aiming to reach 1 million young people annually by 2028. The Events Manager role is critical to this growth, reporting to the Head of Fundraising, with support from the CEO and Board of Trustees. This is an opportunity to lead a demanding programme of events to the highest standard within a well regarded charity.
Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for the delivery of Chance to Shine\'s events, ensuring each event is executed to the highest standard.
* Lead the planning, budgeting, sales and delivery of fundraising events, ensuring income and profit maximise for the charity.
* Develop an events strategy to maximise income from fundraising and challenge events.
* Build positive relationships with charity VIPs and ambassadors, ensuring they are fully briefed at each event.
* Line management of the Events Officer.
* Project management of a full programme of events including cultivation dinners, annual awards receptions, and major fundraising events.
* Lead on selling Chance to Shine events to new and existing supporters, maximising income through ticket/table sales, auction and raffle income, and sponsorships.
* Lead on the concept and design of new fundraising events.
* Develop and regularly review an organisational events strategy focused on maximising income and return on investment for the charity.
* Develop annual budgets, forecasts and plans for all event income to feed into the wider fundraising budget; manage the events budget within Chance to Shine Enterprises (CTSE), the trading subsidiary.
* Broaden supporter networks and build a community of event supporters through networking and cross-selling with the fundraising team to maximise income.
* Build relationships with existing and new event partners including ambassadors, hosts, venues, auctioneers, auction/raffle supporters, silent auction partners, and value-in-kind partners/sponsors.
* Lead on supplier relationships and manage senior volunteers to develop, plan and deliver major fundraising events.
* Build relationships with high value event partners and supporters raising funds on behalf of Chance to Shine; provide guidance to maximise income from challenge and community/third-party events.
* Integrate fundraising challenge events into corporate partnerships and develop a strategy to grow income from challenge events.
* Represent the charity at external events as appropriate and engage Trustees, SMT and colleagues to support partnership opportunities.
* Ensure fundraising events are delivered in a safe and professional manner, including risk assessments and compliance with sector and charity regulations and best practice.
* Lead on the contracts process for event partnerships, liaising with the Director of Finance & Resources and external legal support as required.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Minimum five years\' experience in an events or fundraising team.
* Experience of developing and managing budgets.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong interpersonal skills.
* Line management experience.
Desirable
* Experience of Adobe InDesign (desirable).
* Experience of CRM / fundraising database (desirable).
