Salary £27,204 and rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £29,859 per annum (prorated for part-time employees). Excellent Benefits including Government Pension
Location: Exeter
Type of employment: Fixed Term, until 31 March 2027
Closing Date: Monday 9 March 2026 at midday.
Hours per week: this role is 37 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.
About the role:
Working alongside the Finance & Commissioning Officer, this is a vital role within the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) handling the daily transactions such as requesting purchase orders, processing invoices and reconciling credit card receipts and returns.
You will ideally have a background in accounting with experience of purchase ledger systems. At the least you will demonstrate a numeric understanding with a proficiency in spreadsheets.
A fuller list of responsibilities and duties can be found in the relevant role profile. The Administrative Officer, whilst assigned to a team, can be asked to provide administrative support to all the teams in the OPCC.
This post is advertised as a secondment opportunity or fixed term contract for a full-time position. The OPCC welcomes diversity and flexibility of working, subject to business need, however the nature of the work and the need for strong, visible leadership will require the role-holder to have a regular presence within the OPCC office. In November 2024, the government announced that the role of Police and Crime Commissioners would be abolished in May 2028. At this time, it is unclear if or how the current statutory functions of the OPCC will continue post-abolition, or whether there will be a successor body or any transference of people and responsibilities to other organisations. As such, in applying for this post, the uncertainty of the future of this role should be considered.
