Would you like to be part of a new and exciting internal alternative provision at our growing secondary school?
There’s never been a better time to join the fantastic team here at Nailsea School as we encourage everyone to exceed their own expectations and to be the very best they can be.
We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to deliver lessons to small groups across one of our two new provisions here at Nailsea; The Hive.
The Hive is an internal alternative provision designed to offer a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students who are struggling to succeed in full time mainstream class sizes for a variety of reasons. These reasons, for example could be linked to medical conditions or school anxiety
Students accessing the provision are supported in accessing the mainstream curriculum, using the resources that are already shared across subject departments. Students in The Hive also receive other therapeutic interventions with the aim of returning to mainstream lessons. The successful candidate will be key in supporting students to continue to succeed at school across a range of subjects.
We are looking for candidates who have:
1. Experience of working with children who may find full time mainstream curriculum a challenge
2. A good understanding of the national curriculum framework and adaptive teaching strategies
3. A good understanding of how to modify and adapt the school day to meet the needs of individuals within the class
4. An ability to be flexible, positive and good humoured; proactively seeking creative ways of meeting children’s needs
5. Good levels of written English
6. Excellent interpersonal skills
The successful candidate will be required to:
7. Adapt and deliver lessons to small groups of students who have been referred to the provision as part our graduated response to attendance and behaviour
8. Plan, prepare and deliver core national and life skills (i.e. Unit Award Scheme) curriculum to students on a small group basis, supporting individual needs as required
9. Give clear and effective teaching to secure pupil progress whilst assessing the development, progress, and attainment of pupils
10. Provide assessment feedback to teachers, and SENCO, where appropriate
What we can offer:
11. The full support of a dedicated committed team of staff
12. The benefit of working in an innovative and forward-thinking Trust
13. The opportunity to work with our wonderful young learners and supportive parents
14. A commitment to offering excellent CPD opportunities

16. Generous employer contribution, subject to pension eligibility criteria
17. A staff assistance programme with specialist provider, who provide a 24/7 free phone helpline, or face-to-face counselling for every employee in the Wessex family
