Workshop
Purpose of the role
Perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections (VOSA standards), and subsequent repairs on a range of Distribution Tractors, heavy vehicles, and associated equipment, ensuring all work meets manufacturer standards. Conduct comprehensive visual and operational checks, diagnosing issues and carrying out repairs using advanced diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and systematic troubleshooting techniques.
A range of technical competencies include:
* Proficiency in mechanical systems repair.
* Electrical fault diagnosis and repair, including CAN bus systems and multiplex wiring.
* Interpretation and application of technical drawings, schematics, and service bulletins.
* Use of diagnostic tools for engine management systems.
* Perform in-depth technical inspections and assessments of vehicles, using industry-standard inspection criteria and producing detailed, accurate reports to facilitate effective repair planning.
Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, including safe use of tools, PPE compliance, and proper workshop housekeeping practices.
Responsibilities
* Display the highest standards of appearance, manner and technical ability at all times.
* Accurately and quickly fault diagnose and undertake resultant repairs, including working on a range of makes and models.
* Undertake vehicle servicing, repair and other related work.
* Complete all vehicle servicing and repair documentation correctly, in a timely manner and to a good standard.
* Interpret and remedy vehicle defect descriptions communicated by vehicle users.
* Assist colleagues in the execution of their jobs as required.
* Perform manual handling as required.
* Support planned mobile repair work in support of the Field Service Team, demonstrating flexibility where required.
* Work with all departments, especially with projects that are being explored or implemented.
* Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or support the needs of the business.

Qualifications / Experience Required
* City and Guilds Level 3 – Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems – Maintenance and Repair Qualification or equivalent qualification.
* Substantial experience in Auto Electrician fault diagnosis and resultant repairs, including the use of electronic diagnostic equipment, and working experience of a range of heavy goods / specialist vehicles.
* Experience of undertaking fault diagnosis and repairs on specialist vehicles.
* UK valid driving licence.

* Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within a workshop environment.
