Job Purpose
Lead multi-agency child protection conferences with professionalism and integrity to ensure safeguarding procedures are followed rigorously. Drive quality assurance through audits, provide expert advice, support safeguarding development, and lead investigations under the Managing Allegations (LADO) framework as needed.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Chair child protection case conferences & decide on Child Protection Plans
🔹 Oversee investigations into allegations against professionals
🔹 Offer expert guidance to social workers & agencies on complex cases
🔹 Monitor progress on protection plans to ensure compliance
🔹 Contribute to safeguarding policies, procedures & training
🔹 Conduct audits to enhance multi-agency safeguarding practices
🔹 Promote trauma-informed, child-centred approaches
🔹 Ensure active participation of children & families during conferences
🔹 Maintain professional independence from operational service management
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
✔️ Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
✔️ 5+ years post-qualifying experience in children's social care
✔️ Experience in supervision, complex casework & multi-agency safeguarding
✔️ Skilled in chairing complex meetings & constructively challenging senior professionals
Knowledge & Skills:
📚 Deep understanding of child protection laws & procedures
⚠️ Ability to manage high-risk & complex safeguarding situations
🗣️ Strong advocacy skills for children & rigorous assessment of care plans
💡 Excellent communication, analytical & quality assurance skills
💻 Competent with IT systems & remote working tools
