This is an exciting new joint training programme between two high-volume Urogynaecology units: University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHT).
WAHT is a national leader in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, with over 80% of hysterectomies in women under 50 performed laparoscopically. Robotic surgery is established for both endometriosis and gynaecological cancer.
UHLis a BSUG-accredited Mesh Centre offering advanced care for complex pelvic floor disorders, including mesh complications and sacral neuromodulationone of only a few UK centres to do so.
Both departments are actively engaged in research and education, with regular teaching, audit, governance meetings, and recent publications including RCTs and long-term surgical outcome studies. The appointment is for 2-3 years depending on previous research experience.
The post is approved by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists for sub-specialty training.
Applicants for this post must have a National Training Number (NTN) and have successfully entered Year 5 of Specialty Training.
Training programme
The Subspecialty Training Programme Supervisor (STPS) is Mr Rod Teo (Leicester) with Miss Natalia Price (Worcester) as deputy.
The period of training is for 2-3 years dependent upon previous research experience. It is expected that the trainee will be based in Worcester for the 1st half of training before completing the 2nd half of training in Leicester.

The trainee will work with the urogynaecology teams at UHL and WAHT in providing a secondary and tertiary service for women with disorders of the lower urinary tract and pelvic floor.
The trainee will also participate in an on-call rota for Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
The weekly job plan is flexible depending on the training requirements of the trainee.
The trainee will work with all urogynaecologists in each unit although proportionally more time will be spent with the STPS and the deputy.

* Comprehensive general training and experience of working in busy obstetrics and gynaecology unit at senior level of training with solid basic surgical skills

* Good progress or completion of ATSM or equivalent.
