About the Role
Civil Engineering is one of the main divisions within GRAHAM Construction. Operating throughout the UK and Ireland, we pride ourselves on delivering value for money and innovative solutions for our clients. We have worked on prestigious projects across the UK and Ireland, including landmarks such as the Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin, various major highway and rail schemes, ports and railway stations. Our core sectors include Marine, Highways, Rail, Water & Nuclear. This placement offers structured learning, exposure to a variety of Civil Engineering environments, and the potential for a company scholarship award and a graduate employment offer.
What does a Civil Engineer do at GRAHAM?
Civil Engineers are creative problem solvers who turn ideas into real infrastructure. We work on bridges, highways, rivers, and railways, aiming to deliver lasting impact to millions of people.
Responsibilities
* Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements are adhered to.
* Undertake surveying and setting-out duties.
* Plan work and organise site operations to meet programme milestones.
* Liaise with consultants and sub-contractors as necessary.
* Resolve unforeseen technical challenges and other problems that may arise.
* Undertake testing and calibration of instruments used.
* Share improvements and innovation.
* Continuously learn and develop through the GRAHAM Academy.
Technical Competencies
Essential
* Undertaking an ICE-accredited Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent.
* Strong communication skills.
* Strong IT skills.
* Willing to relocate throughout the UK and Ireland.
* Right to work in the UK or Ireland.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
* Appreciation of Health & Safety practices.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Previous work experience in Construction.
* Proven problem-solving abilities.

Industrial Placements Pathway
Industrial placements can last 3-12 months, depending on your curriculum. They provide structured learning and experience across Civil Engineering environments, with potential for a scholarship and future employment upon graduation.
Recruitment Process
* Closing date: Friday 9 January 2026.
* Aptitude test after the closing date.
* Interviews commence February 2026.
* Successful candidates notified March 2026.
* All successful applicants will have joined the business by September 2026, if not before.
