This is a permanent and full-time position for a Senior Support Worker in a new, high-quality unit in the Glossop area.

We offer:
* £14.35 – £15.43 per hour, depending on experience.
* £70.50 per sleep-in, typically 6 nights per month.

Job Purpose & Objectives
* Support, assist, provide guidance, and set boundaries for looked-after children and young people in a safe, stable residential environment, both individually and in groups.
* Safeguard, promote welfare, and advocate for children and young people to ensure care exceeds National Minimum Standards.
* Collaborate with senior management and external agencies such as Local Authorities, schools, health services, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
* Lead, supervise, and support junior staff providing consistent, high-quality care aligned with the Home’s standards and Statement of Purpose.
* Assist in ensuring policies, procedures, and records are maintained, and resources are used effectively to meet standards and expectations.
* Support management in maintaining a competent, safe, motivated, and confident staff team.
* Promote equal opportunity and anti-discriminatory practices within the Home.
Specific Duties & Key Responsibilities
Meeting the needs of young people:
* Ensure care plans are followed effectively, addressing all aspects of care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
* Act as a Key Worker for specific individuals, overseeing their childcare plans.
* Provide high standards of childcare, guiding and controlling children and young people to maintain the Home’s ethos and security.
* Record significant observations and contribute to assessments through meetings with staff, families, and professionals.
* Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Supporting colleagues:
* Help induct and mentor new staff, ensuring adherence to development plans and expectations.
* Lead teams and shifts, ensuring policies and procedures are followed for smooth operations and resource management.
* Participate in the rota system, covering various shifts including early mornings, late evenings, sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays.
* Foster a culture that values contributions, balances confidentiality with transparency, and supports innovation within established procedures.
* Support staff during physical interventions to ensure safety.
* Plan and facilitate activities, participate in residential camps, and outdoor activities as needed.
