IT IS AN HONOR TO PROVIDE HEALTHCARE SERVICES FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED, AND TO THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY.
RNs are responsible for first aid to cadet civilian instructors and onsite civilians. Services are provided on a walk-in basis, including patient history, physical assessment, screening, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient counseling on preventative health, and facilitating access to health services and referrals. The HCP must be available for eight or twelve-hour shifts as per clinic schedule, including weekdays and weekends.
* Apply policies, procedures, and rules for medical services to on-site Regular Force, Reserve Force, Cadet, and civilian members;
* Assess patients reporting to the clinic;
* Administer care and urgent treatment, and provide information to resolve health issues;
* Refer cases beyond their expertise to higher medical authority;
* Record observations, recommendations, and treatments in patient files;
* Provide OTC medication in accordance with responsibility level, qualification, and provincial registration or delegated authority;
* Follow-up with patients and inform higher medical authorities as needed;
* Promote hygiene, safety, and disease prevention among camp members;
* Assist physicians during clinic hours;
* Review and fill out Cadet Intake Forms, collect and manage cadet medications, and explain medication purposes and dosages;
* Promote cadet hygiene and safety;
* Review and oversee cadet medical intake forms during camp;
The head/charge nurse is responsible for:
* Assessing patients and determining appropriate care levels;
* Responding to queries from health professionals and camp leadership, respecting privacy;
* Supervising and mentoring student nurses;
* Performing other relevant tasks.
The administrative functions include:
* Handling phone calls and emails related to clinic operations;
* Following up with healthcare practitioners, parents, or authorities;
* Managing clinical and administrative forms, stock, and supplies;
* Managing medication and audits;
* Ensuring overall clinic function and reporting;
* Adhering to policies, participating in quality and safety activities, maintaining confidentiality.
Must complete Police Records Check (PRC)/Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) as working with youth is involved.
