Configuration Change Engineer

PAYE: £285 or £390 Umbrella
Job Purpose / Overview
To provide professional, high-quality engineering support to the HPC Project on behalf of the Plant Configuration Function of the NNB Technical Directorate and to ensure that the proposed design complies with UK regulations and context.
Principal Accountabilities
The primary responsibility of the Configuration Engineer is to support the Change Control Branch of Plant Configuration in coordinating HPC activities within the Configuration Management processes. This involves providing technical assistance and managing activities to ensure proper, adequate, and efficient implementation of Configuration Management processes across the project. The main scope includes:
1. Being the preferred point of contact within HPC for configuration management processes, especially for Engineering Managers and Design Entities.
2. Coordinating contributions from HPC stakeholders to progress configuration management processes, including resolving Open Points, Design Changes, referential changes, and progressing agreements on Technical Interface attributes.
3. Controlling, supporting, steering, and monitoring end-to-end configuration activities.
4. Involvement in Design Handovers to NNB to maintain configuration control.
5. Developing and maintaining data-centric approaches for managing design configuration.
Additional tasks relevant to the project or the personal development of the post holder may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in a relevant science or engineering subject or strong technical background preferred.
* Experience within the Nuclear Industry is useful but not mandatory.
* Experience of process development and application within engineering projects.
* Database management and coding skills preferred.
* Understanding of quality arrangements related to nuclear plant construction preferred.
* Understanding of equipment engineering requirements.
* Knowledge of design processes and activities related to the Nuclear Industry preferred.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
* Knowledge of power station design is desirable (EPR or NPP).
* Proficient project management, organizational, and coordination skills.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Decision-making and escalation skills for issue resolution.
* Knowledge of budget and schedule management.
* Ability to travel to different project locations, including France.
