Interim SENCO - Birmingham Start: Early November 2025 Contract: Until mid July 2026 Rate: £competitive day rate (depending on experience) inside IR35 Working pattern: Full-time preferred (4 days considered) An established and forward-thinking primary school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Interim SENCO to join their leadership team from early November. This is a non-teaching role, ideal for a SENCO who enjoys stepping into an organised setting, maintaining momentum, and ensuring a smooth transition period for staff and pupils. The role You'll oversee the school's SEND provision, leading on EHCP reviews, supporting teachers with inclusive practice, and working closely with a skilled SEND assistant and pastoral team. What you'll be doing: Leading all aspects of SEND across the school, including oversight of EHCPs and support plans Line managing a small SEND team (SEND assistant and resource base staff) Working collaboratively with senior leaders to embed inclusive practice Liaising with external agencies, the local authority and parents Supporting a well-established 'resource base' provision within the school What we're looking for: Experienced SENCO with strong knowledge of Birmingham SEND systems and processes (SSP) NASENCO qualification (or significant experience and willingness to undertake) Proven ability to lead, influence and collaborate at a whole-school level Confident managing statutory processes and supporting colleagues in class-based practice If you're an experienced SENCO who can confidently step into an interim role and hit the ground running, we'd love to hear from you.
