Role
Automation Engineer working closely with the QA technical lead to design, build and enhance test automation frameworks and capabilities. The role supports the uplift of test automation in scrum teams through technical guidance, education, and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement, maintain and enhance test automation frameworks with support from the QA technical lead.
* Collaborate with QA lead and delivery teams to define test automation strategies and solutions.
* Communicate the effectiveness of automated test solutions using meaningful metrics.
* Participate in working groups and communities, sharing knowledge and ideas to support continuous improvement across the department.
* Research emerging technologies/practices and propose improvements and innovations that would benefit the business.
What will you bring to the role?
Experience working on scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks and solutions, hands‑on expertise in Selenium WebDriver, Mobile automation, Cucumber and strong Java programming skills. Proven experience of Agile and DevOps, with a working knowledge of test‑driven and business‑driven development (TDD/BDD). Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous delivery, understanding of test environments, quality gateways, and the software development lifecycle. Highly motivated, pragmatic, detail oriented, problem‑solving, and able to communicate decisions effectively.
Key Skills Required
* Working knowledge of Maven, TestNG and Jenkins.
* Prior experience of Financial Services, specifically within the Employee Plans domain.
* Strong training, coaching & mentoring skills to support team members on test automation techniques and implementations.
* Collaborative communication, challenge effectively, and responsive to others with good listening skills.
* Preferred certifications – ISTQB Test Automation Engineer or similar, ISTQB Foundation Level Agile Tester/Certified Agile Tester (CAT) or similar.
* AI prompting for automated efficiencies would be beneficial.
