Overview
Provide professional support for all photographic/videographic type visual communications and creation of assets to be used in multimedia projects. As a key member of the small media team in the Design & Technology Hub, you will be creating work in support of the delivery of Intelligence Training at the Defence Intelligence Academy, currently on the Chicksands estate and potentially offsite at other units in the Defence Intelligence Community. Follow Line Management / customer briefs liaising with Subject Matter Experts/ Military and Civilian Trainers onsite in support of all manner of media taskings and training support as directed by the Head of the Design & Technology Hub or the Chief Photographic Trainer onsite.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Create photographic and videographic media solutions for training support/other media project timelines, including capturing work in support of VR/AR productions and making effective use of technologies available. Provide regular support to the Photographic trainer in the delivery of specialist photographic training to meet course training objectives.
Responsibilities
* Perform both Studio & Location photographic/video tasks including occasional out of hours and weekend work to cover priority tasking by the Design & Technology Hub.
* Create and edit analogue/digital media as required and output to various formats.
* Operate all photographic/video equipment on issue to the Design & Technology Hub.
* Organise and control the issue of Design & Technology Hub photographic loan camera kit on a first come first served basis. Ensure imagery is downloaded off camera cards after each use, batteries are charged, and other supporting equipment remains fully functional.
* Carry out first line equipment maintenance. Maintain the Design & Technology Hub database, and carry out day-to-day administration including complying with the Data Protection Act, metadata and copyright requirements, archiving official imagery according to MOD policy.
* Complete regular stock checks of all equipment and stores on issue. Monitor and replenish supplies as necessary.
* Maintain Photographic and Video templates and training aids to support media creation and training delivery.
* Undertake learning and development and upskilling as required.
Qualifications & Skills
* Excellent Leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Strong organisational skills and excellent IT skills, particularly across the Adobe Creative Suite, plus MS Office and SharePoint.
* Ability to prioritise own work, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
* NVQ L5 / HND or Degree equivalent in Photography / Visual Communication or recognised equivalents.
* Essential: Driving Licence Category B.
* Technical skills: Video planning & Capture including Post Production.
Assessment & Interviews
* Interviews will be held on-site at Chicksands, Bedfordshire. Bring Photo ID.
* Portfolio requirement: digital/hard copy/work highlighting creative, illustrative and design skills, including work demonstrating MOD Photographic Functional Competences; explain rationale and techniques used.
* Evidence of NVQ/HND/ Degree equivalent Certificates in Photography and delivery of a Media Portfolio.
