Customs Coordinator
Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Office-Based
Hours: Monday-Thursday 08:00-17:00 Friday 08:00-16:30 (Hybrid 2 days form home 3 office based)
Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a Customs Coordinator to join our dynamic, multinational in-house transportation team based in Basingstoke. This role is ideal for an experienced customs professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to take their career to the next level.
About the Role:
As a Customs Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods in and out of the UK. You'll coordinate all aspects of customs operations, working closely with internal teams, external brokers, and transport providers to manage international freight bookings and ensure full adherence to customs legislation and business policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete Import and Export Customs Declarations accurately and on time
Provide clear and precise clearance instructions to third-party customs brokers
Classify materials and products using UK Customs Tariff (I, II, III)
Manage Customer NOVA and Import VAT/Duty reports
Quote and process multi-modal international freight bookings
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal controls
Handle all customs clearance-related tasks for consignmentsAbout You:
We're looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented individual who brings a strong understanding of UK/EU customs regulations and freight operations.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong working knowledge of UK and EU customs procedures
Proficient in customs software such as CDS, ASM Sequoia, AEB, Destin8, and Pentant
Experience with multi-modal freight (road, air, sea), including Dangerous Goods
Familiar with quoting and booking international shipments
Strong IT skills (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
Commercially astute with the ability to prioritise and adapt in a dynamic environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsDesirable Background:
