MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
:
The Finance Assistant will support the finance team in delivering accurate, timely, and efficient financial operations. This role will involve maintaining financial records, assisting with reporting, and supporting the business with day-to-day accounting tasks, including basic credit control.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Processing speeding fines, parking fines and damage costs and issuing invoices to customers.
· Verifying and processing supplier invoices.
· Maintaining accurate records and updating systems accordingly.
· Carrying out basic credit control activities, including monitoring customer accounts and chasing overdue payments politely and professionally.
· Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
· Responding to internal and external financial queries.
· Supporting audits by preparing required documentation.
· Carrying out other ad-hoc finance and administrative tasks as needed.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Good organisational and time-management skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (especially for customer payment discussions)
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis skills desirable)
· Familiarity with accounting software
· Professional and confident telephone manner for credit control tasks
Qualifications & Experience
* Previous experience in a finance/accounts role (preferred but not essential)
* AAT qualification (or working towards) desirable
* Strong numerical skills with a good understanding of basic accounting principles
* Experience with basic credit control is beneficial
