Procurement Officer
Reporting to Director
Full Time – 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday
As Procurement Officer you will work alongside our purchasing director ensuring Peter Thompson Joinery obtains quality products and services, at the right time and for competitive prices. Supporting department heads and maximizing opportunities to reduce costs through current and new suppliers and systems.
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Preparing and sending purchase orders, monitoring and expediting them where necessary
· Resolving any issues with suppliers effectively and efficiently
· Communicating effectively with internal teams, particularly our Warehouse teams and back office teams
Required Skills & Training
· Hold a suitable and relevant Purchasing qualification. CIPS Level 3 or above
· At least 2 years proven working experience as procurement officer.
· Familiarity with sourcing and supplier management
· A knack for negotiation and building great supplier relationships
· Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures
· Solid judgement along with decision making skills
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· High level IT literacy and a strong numerical base is essential
· As Procurement Officer you will be responsible for sourcing goods and services and managing suppliers. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Liaises with key company employees to determine their product and service needs
· Develops and implements strategies for procuring goods or services more cost effectively
· Monitor and develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
· Negotiate best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times
· Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
· Nurture relationships with suppliers
· Identify and research potential new suppliers and products/services to meet company's goals
· Determine optimum quantity and timing of deliveries
· Creating purchasing orders in the systems
· Identifying and escalating invoice queries and discrepancies
· Assesses & reports total costs of company purchases
· To perform other tasks as may be required by the business under the direction of your line manager
