Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to support an autistic child aged 10 within the local community. The role involves assisting the child to access extra‑curricular activities, develop friendships with peers through sports, arts and crafts, STEM, and outdoor activities, and helping with verbal communication to avoid misunderstandings and conflict.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the child in accessing and participating in extra‑curricular activities on a regular basis.
* Assist in developing friendships with peers of a similar age through sports, arts & crafts, STEM, and outdoors activities.
* Aid the child with verbal communication with peers and help interpret meaning to avoid misunderstandings and conflict.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Passion for working with children with special educational needs, especially speech and language difficulties.
* Previous experience supporting children who have suffered trauma.
* Positive attitude, punctual, reliable, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Valid driver's licence with a clean record and willingness to obtain business car insurance.
* Desired: Paediatric First Aid certificate accredited by FIAB; training will be provided if not held.
Benefits & Working Hours
This part‑time position averages 6‑7.5 hours per week at £12.21 per hour, plus 5.6 weeks paid annual leave and a workplace pension scheme. Additional hours may be offered during school holidays, but you will not be required to work more than 7.5 hours per week.
