You will work mainly within the engineering team on Airborne Mission Systems, with a focus on DS-970 certification of airborne platforms. Currently, the role focuses on Merlin and Avenger programmes, but this may evolve.
The role is primarily home-based, with occasional travel to the Havant offices and our customer sites in Crawley and Yeovil. This position is ideal if you have a background in Aerospace certification or other highly regulated industries like Automotive.
You will engage in a wide range of engineering activities, including:
* Leading and overseeing certification of Type Design Change (TDC) for air systems.
* Working within the Military Air System Certification Process (MACP), leading the generation and delivery of:
* Application for TDC (DAT Form 30 or equivalent),
* Certification artefacts such as Type Certification Basis (TCB), Certification Programme (CP), and Type Certification Expositions (TCE) in accordance with RA5820 and the Manual of Military Air System Certification (MMAC).
* Submitting compliance documentation to Certification Specifications like Def Stan 00-970 or EASA CS.
* Assessing non-compliances against certification specifications and developing ELoS arguments to gain acceptance.
* Managing Military Certification Review Items (MCRI).
* Developing and implementing certification strategies and plans.
* Mobilising certification teams to deliver against these strategies and plans.
* Managing time effectively to develop solutions that meet cost and quality targets.
* Collaborating with suppliers and customer authorities to review and approve airworthiness documents and evidence submissions.
* Providing technical input to programme management and commercial teams, supporting the use of LM and industry tools.
* Performing any additional programme-related tasks within your expertise and competence.
* Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients and suppliers at all levels, both internally and externally.

Required skills, qualifications, and experience:
* Experience leading certification within aerospace or similar regulated industries
* Experience in a technical authority role or equivalent
* Extensive knowledge of Test and Qualification procedures, especially requirement sell-off
* Experience with qualification evidence against requirements and regulations
* Ability to lead and direct staff, including early careers
* Strong understanding of requirements definition and interface documentation
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to manage tasks and priorities effectively
* Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience
Desired skills, qualifications, and experience:
* Experience as a Tech Lead or similar role
* Degree in Engineering or STEM field
* Analytical skills for technical problem-solving
* Proven ability to produce cost-effective, compliant solutions
* Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools (SysML, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect)
* Understanding of Systems Engineering tools and practices (TOGAF, UML/SysML, DOORS)
