As a Lead Service Design Engineer at Elekta, you will play a pivotal part in driving service and technical roadmaps for our world-leading radiotherapy solutions.

Your work will ensure improved installability, upgradability, serviceability, and supportability— ultimately enhancing device availability and customer satisfaction.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the entire lifecycle of our advanced linear accelerators, from development through to decommissioning.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide engineering efforts, and deliver first-class support to service users—all while working at the forefront of clinical technology.


What you’ll do at Elekta


Your role will include but not limited to:

* Initiate and participate in Service Design Continuous Improvement activities to enhance installability, upgradability, serviceability, and supportability.
* Support the development of the service model and contribute to Service Innovation projects and workshops.
* Consult with Product Management to determine Service User Needs and influence decomposition into System Requirements for optimised solutions.
* Create technical procedures and service workflows for user manuals, including predictive, proactive, planned, and corrective maintenance processes.
* Collaborate with Domain Systems Engineering to influence architecture and drive service user needs within system and sub-system design.
* Review and evaluate subsystems and modules, balancing quality with lifecycle cost and promoting technologies that support the service and technical roadmap.
* Lead, organise, and participate in validation activities for releases, including test design, execution, and reporting to meet targets.
* Provide support during project pilot phases, including pilot installations/upgrades and clinically representative validation testing at customer sites.
* Investigate and resolve complex technical product issues escalated from the global Field Service community, both remotely and on‑site, ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify root causes of incidents and drive resolution, enhancing product reliability and customer satisfaction.

* Experience working with customers face‑to‑face and remotely in high‑pressure situations.
* Proven talent for troubleshooting technical problems.
* Strong analytical, problem solving and presentation skills.
* To embody and support Elekta values.
* Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Concise and coherent written work.
* Ability to operate at multiple levels of an organisation and in an international/multi‑cultural environment.
* Must be self‑motivated, able to work as part of a team or manage own workload, with flexibility where appropriate.


What you bring

* Minimum HNC or equivalent in a related engineering or other similar scientific discipline.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience installing, servicing, testing or supporting Linear Accelerators.
* Excellent knowledge and proven skills in electronics, mechanics, PCs & servers, networking, high vacuum, high/low voltage & current, diagnostic equipment and a general knowledge of all engineering disciplines.
* Ability to fault find and repair at board level & below.
* Completion of all relevant Elekta technical training courses.
* Awareness of the Elekta product portfolio with experience in one or more products. Basic clinical workflow awareness.
* English language – education taught in English or having Secure English Language Test (SELT) to at least level B1 (CEFR) or similar recognised test.
* Experience of working in regulated medical environment.
* Understanding of industry standards such as ITIL, Agile, SAFe, project management, ISO standards, etc.
* Engineering Tools: Competent with tools such as but not limited to: JIRA, Polarion, Enovia, and Salesforce.
* Competent with relevant IT technology including Windows OS, Microsoft Office applications, networking.
