We’re recruiting for an experienced Assistant Facilities Manager with strong technical knowledge in hard facilities management, mechanical and electrical systems, and plant room operations. This permanent role offers £45,000-£47,000 plus benefits for the right candidate to join an educational establishment in Bristol.
About This Assistant Facilities Management Position
This role combines technical facilities expertise with team leadership to ensure exceptional service standards across multiple educational sites. You’ll be essential to maintaining critical building infrastructure and supporting the Facilities Manager in all hard services operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee building services maintenance and compliance with Service Agreements
* Supervise Premises Managers and Maintenance Supervisor in daily operations
* Manage mechanical and electrical installations, plant room operations, and air conditioning systems
* Lead and participate in complex maintenance tasks within building plant rooms
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and fire safety standards
* Build and maintain strong relationships with all customer departments
* Implement preventive maintenance programs and lifecycle management to contract specifications
Required Skills & Experience
* Extensive hands-on experience in hard facilities management and building services
* Demonstrated expertise with HVAC systems, air conditioning maintenance, and plant room operations
* Strong electrical knowledge with formal certification or extensive practical experience
* Proven team leadership in facilities management environments
* Comprehensive understanding of building maintenance and M&E services
* Excellent client relationship and organizational abilities
* Proactive problem-solving and effective project management capabilities
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
* Solid understanding of financial management and contract administration
* Valid UK Driving License & personal transportation
Preferred Assistant Facilities Management Qualifications
* Gas Safe registration/qualification (highly desirable)
* Electrical certification or equivalent proven experience
* HVAC/Air conditioning systems technical expertise
* ILM Level 3 First Line Management or equivalent leadership qualification
* IOSH Managing Safety certification
* Knowledge of CDM regulations in Facilities Management

Position Details
