Overview
Due to the recent recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Brixton. HMP Brixton is in the process of becoming a Category B male prison for April 2026, housing men on remand. Our patients’ needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.
Hours and Salary
Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Up to £45,331 depending on experience

Responsibilities
* Provide outstanding quality patient‑centred care, seeking out, listening to and acting on patients’ feedback so care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
* Maintain patient medical records to the agreed standard and ensure standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
* Deliver non‑judgemental care within the scope of professional standards, including timely administration of medicines and analysing cost‑effective prescribing as defined through our unique Health in Justice medicines policy.
* Work as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Qualifications and Experience
* NVQ Level 3 or above, BTEC or equivalent
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Up‑to‑date with continual professional development (CPD)
* Relevant post‑qualification pharmacy experience
* General GCSE education or equivalent
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Able to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
Additional Criteria
Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work. While not essential, ideal applicants will have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) to check for any previous convictions.
