Job overview

This post is for a booking clerk at the South West Wales Cancer Centre, Singleton.

The post holder will provide a professional booking service for new and follow up appointments and administrative support in the effective management of appointments bookings, including clinic maintenance.

Main duties of the job

Provide a courteous, professional booking service for new and follow up appointments

Update spreadsheets with booking and clinic information

Person specification

Information and Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Good standard of general education, minimum 5 GCSE’s at C or above
2. Good knowledge of administration/clerical procedures

Desirable criteria

3. NVQ in Administration or equivalent
4. ECDL

Experience

Essential criteria

5. Experience using computer software packages such as Microsoft Office
6. Experience of effective team work

Desirable criteria

7. Experience of working in a busy office environment

Aptitudes and abilities

Essential criteria

8. Adhere to and can demonstrate SBU Values & Behaviours
9. Excellent Communication Skills confident – able to communicate to staff of all levels
10. Excellent Telephone Manner
11. Proven organisational and administrative skills, ability to prioritize work loads
12. Have a flexible approach to work ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
13. Self Motivated/Able to work unsupervised
14. Is tactful and shows awareness of sensitive issues

Desirable criteria

15. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh

16. Ability to travel within geographical area.
17. Able to work hours flexibly.
18. Satisfactory Standard/Enhanced DBS clearance including an Adults and Childrens Barred List check
