Job Overview

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part‑time Senior Home Therapy Dialysis Assistant to support patients across East & West Berkshire. The role involves setting up and caring for automated peritoneal dialysis (PD) machines at the homes of patients, providing clinical support around the PD treatment and liaising with the renal team at the Trust.


Key Responsibilities

* Set up automated peritoneal dialysis machines and manual PD sessions.
* Observe patients, take weights, manage machine set‑ups and blood‑taking.
* Perform dialysis‑related dressings and stock take supplies.
* Dispose of clinical waste and manage dialysis‑related dressings.
* Liaise with the trained renal team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
* Work within the home‑therapy team, visiting patients’ homes across East & West Berkshire.
* Assist in delivering life‑saving treatment 365 days a year, including weekends and bank holidays.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and reports.


Qualifications and Experience

* Successful completion of the Trust’s Band 2 Developmental Passport or equivalent level of competence.
* NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care (desirable).
* Completion of the Care Certificate (desirable).
* Experience as a Healthcare Assistant within an acute hospital environment or equivalent setting.
* Reliable work/study record.
* Hold a current valid UK driving licence (essential).
