Offer description

Description Salary: £34,434 - £36,363 pro rata Hours per week: 37 hours Temporary/Fixed term: 24 months Interview date: Friday 21 November 2025 Education and Skills - Building Bright Futures We are looking for an EBSA Mentor to support children and young people who struggle to attend school due to emotional barriers, including mental health challenges and special educational needs. You will work directly with children, families, and schools to understand the barriers to good attendance and help improve outcomes. Using a relationship-based approach, you’ll support children to build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem. You’ll help families create safe, supportive environments and work with them to set goals and plan steps to re-engage with education. You will be the lead professional, coordinating support and working closely with other services. You will plan and deliver activities that support emotional wellbeing, track progress, and keep clear records. You will also lead meetings, share updates, and make sure everyone involved is working together effectively. Safeguarding is a key part of this role. You will need experience in recognising the early signs of risk and follow local procedures to keep children safe. To succeed, you will need experience working with vulnerable children and families, a good understanding of child development and emotional wellbeing, and a commitment to improving outcomes. You should hold a Level 4 qualification (e.g., SEND, Health, social care, early years, adult education) or have relevant experience and be willing to undertake further training. If you’re committed to helping children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn at school, we’d love to hear from you. Why us? Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. That’s why we focus on getting the things that matter to our people right. Explore more benefits here! Your substantive manager must agree to you transferring to the secondment role. This agreement must be sought in principle before applying for the seconded role.
