AGI specialises in providing premium quality chemical processing equipment from laboratory scale to manufacturing scale. Our wide range of products serve all chemistry sectors but especially the pharmaceutical industry. AGI was founded in 1950, is the market leader in Japan and now employs over 700 people. A bit about the role… We’re looking for a Chemistry Product Test Engineer to bridge the gap between laboratory science and product development. In this role, you’ll design and execute scientifically grounded tests that verify the functionality, reliability, and usability of innovative lab products. You’ll work closely with chemists, engineers, and software developers to ensure our tools perform as expected in real-world laboratory environments. You’ll work on cutting-edge products, collaborating with a diverse team of experts at the intersection of science, engineering, and innovation. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Design and execute reproducible test cases to verify functionality and robustness of new products under conditions representative of chemical use scenarios. Record, document, analyse, and report test results quantitively and qualitatively, including anomalies or deviations and how they can be reproduced. Review and suggest improvements to products based on how chemists work in the lab, highlighting workflow bottlenecks or steps/functions that don’t align with standard lab practices. Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to ensure requirements are scientifically testable. Review and provide feedback on test cases created by other testers. Manage and maintain test tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition for testing and development activity. Setup test environments on test PCs, both physical and virtual machines. This role may include software/hardware testing activities that do not directly involve chemicals. Requirements A bit about you… Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related subjects or >3 years hand-on lab experience and thorough understanding of chemistry/chemical engineering related synthesis workflows (i.e. wet chemistry) Ability to articulate and present findings to colleagues from different backgrounds (software/hardware engineers, product management, senior managers etc.) Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and in a team setting, comfortable interacting with a wide range of subject matter experts, stakeholders and global teams. Strong documentation and communication skills. Willingness to learn new areas outside of direct expertise. (Interest in software or hardware testing) Some non-essential but desirable experiences include: Experience of product/compliance testing. Familiarity with lab automation systems. Knowledge of the software development lifecycle. Knowledge of using virtual machine environments and an understanding of network protocols and server/client products.
