Job objectives and responsibilities We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and monitoring of all mechanical equipment within the prison. You will manage the onsite team, ensure schedules and programs are followed, and maintain high standards. Building strong client relationships and conducting regular quality audits are key responsibilities. You will lead and develop staff and prisoners, manage absences, and ensure correct staffing levels. Adherence to health and safety policies, including preparing necessary documentation, is essential. Ensuring SHE standards are maintained. You will ensure compliance with safety policies and permit to work systems, oversee planned preventive maintenance, and liaise with engineers and subcontractors. A proactive approach to client liaison, detailed knowledge of site engineering services, and enforcing risk management procedures are required. You will review service performance, support best practices, and complete work-related documentation accurately. Investigating infrastructure issues, coordinating plant/system connections, and ensuring staff have the necessary tools are part of your duties. Compliance with safety regulations, conducting site inspections, and updating the asset register are also essential. Availability for scheduled and unplanned weekend work is required. Person Specification The ideal candidate will possess basic to intermediate IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. An apprenticeship or equivalent qualification is required, as well as IOSH or an equivalent certification. Candidates should have completed C&G/BTEC Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering Parts 1, 2, and 3, and hold an NVQ Level 3 in multi-skilled engineering. A C&G 2079 F Gas or equivalent certification, HVAC or gas equivalent, and C&G 2391/2 18th edition IEE regulations are also necessary. What we are looking for -Be a UK citizen, Citizen of the Commonwealth with your own indefinite leave to remain (not through marriage) or EEA citizen. -Have a valid and in date passport, with no restrictions on your stay in the UK. -Please note Visa's in out-of-date passports cannot be accepted as proof of Right to Work in the UK. A Biometric card alongside a current in- date passport must be provided. -Have continuously resided in the UK for the past 3 years. (No trips overseas longer than three months) -Applicants must not have spent more than 3 months at any one time overseas during the previous 5 years. -This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and Applicants must be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, complete employer referencing for the previous 5 years and vetting to the level of Counter Terrorist Checked (CTC) if offered a role. -Not currently bankrupt.
