Children’s Worker
1. Hours: – 16 Hours per Week (flexible working may be required)
2. Salary: £26.409-£27.245 pro rata
3. Location: Welwyn Hatfield Women’s Refuge
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Child Support Worker to join our team at a women’s refuge, supporting women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. This role focuses on providing emotional support, activities, and a safe, nurturing environment for children living in the refuge.
You will work closely with the wider support team to help children feel safe, listened to, and supported during their stay. The role may involve organising activities, offering one-to-one support, and helping children maintain routines such as school attendance and play.
Key Responsibilities:
4. Provide emotional and practical support to children living in the refuge
5. Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities and play sessions
6. Support childrens’ wellbeing, safety, and development
7. Work collaboratively with the refuge team to meet the needs of families
8. Maintain appropriate records and follow safeguarding procedures
Requirements:
9. A relevant qualification in childcare, youth work, social care, or a related field is preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate
10. Ability to work as part of a supportive team
11. Good communication and interpersonal skills
12. Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
Additional Information:
13. An Enhanced DBS check is required before starting employment
14. Experience working with children or vulnerable families would be an advantage
