Architectural Technician/ Technologist– Exeter, Devon
£23,000 - £33,000 (Dependent on experience)
37 Hours per week (working 9-5 with flexible working arrangements)
South West Norse is part of the wider Norse Group, offering the benefits of a locally based team supported by the knowledge, expertise, and resources of a national organisation. Based in Exeter, the team delivers projects across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset.
We are a collaborative practice with a broad range of experience, providing opportunities to contribute meaningfully to project delivery across a wide range of RIBA Stages. South West Norse is also committed to supporting emerging talent, working closely with apprentices and work‑placement students.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of architectural design services by contributing to technical outputs across multiple project stages.
* Produce accurate and high‑quality technical drawings, specifications, and construction information in line with project requirements.
* Prepare and submit Planning and Building Control applications, ensuring all statutory approvals are obtained in a timely manner.
Candidate Requirements
* Proficient in Revit (essential) with working knowledge of Autodesk 2D drafting software.
* Experience using the NBS Chorus specification platform is desirable
* Strong design, technical, and construction understanding, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively in project work.
* Good awareness of UK Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and general construction methods.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a design team, contributing positively to shared deadlines and project outcomes.
* Solid technical detailing skills relevant to both new‑build and existing‑building projects.
* A proactive and positive approach, with enthusiasm for learning, problem‑solving, and working as part of a team.
* Working toward CIAT or an equivalent professional accreditation is desirable, with training and funding support available to assist progression.
