What You'll Be Doing:
* Design & Analysis: Dive into the analysis and design of complex steel structures using Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to support submarine builds.
* Regulatory Expertise: Leverage your knowledge of regulations beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER, codes of compliance, and weld specifications.
* Technical Proficiency: Utilize your skills in computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modeling, and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Support Manufacturing: Assist in the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures, modules, and components.
* Concept Development: Contribute to the production of concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs, ensuring they meet contractual requirements and deadlines.
* Quality Assurance: Take responsibility for approvals, checking analysis, and outputs to maintain high standards.
Your Skills and Experience:
* BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
* Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
* Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
* Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and structural steelwork, including lifting handling and LOLER.
* Working knowledge of ABAQUS, S-Frame Foran, MathCAD, and Excel.
* Experience in a production environment; marine production experience is a plus!

About the Specialist Structures Department:
As a Principal Engineer, you'll collaborate with a dynamic team of 14 professionals across various seniority levels. Together, you'll conduct engineering assessments to support submarine builds, ensuring safety-critical equipment is produced efficiently. We also offer relocation support packages for eligible candidates.
