Role responsibilities
* Maintaining clean, safe and secure school premises, including building and grounds;
* Carrying out cleaning, handy person activities, routine maintenance, refurbishment, porterage, and minor repairs;
* Supervising school cleaning staff;
* Promoting health and safety around the school;
* Carrying out porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment;
* Maintaining the general school premises, furniture, and fittings, reporting issues to the Head Teacher;
* Performing small repairs and DIY projects;
* Arranging larger repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors;
* Carrying out daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, such as litter picking and waste disposal;
* Performing emergency cleaning duties, such as gritting and spill cleanup;
* Arranging annual deep cleans of classrooms, staffrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and other spaces;
* Managing cleaning tools and supplies, ensuring good stock levels;
* Maintaining school security as the main key holder, including locking/unlocking premises and checking security systems;
* Responding to security alarms and breaches, including CCTV and alarm system checks;
* Advising the Head Teacher on security matters and ensuring a safe environment in accordance with legislation;
* Conducting regular health and safety checks, reporting hazards;
* Providing safe access during cold weather conditions.
Requirements
* Previous property maintenance/caretaking experience within a school preferred;
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems;
* Good knowledge of health and safety regulations;
* Basic DIY skills;
* Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with contractors and visitors;
* Good literacy and numeracy skills;
* Ability to work with SEMH children;
* Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, with costs covered by ISP;
* UK Driving License and own transport required.
