The role:
As an Advanced Speech & Language Therapist within NHSGGC, you will play a vital role in delivering highly specialist neuro-rehabilitation to adults across community settings, helping individuals maximise their communication, swallowing, and overall quality of life. Working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will manage a complex caseload with autonomy while contributing to innovative, person-centred care. All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. You will be based at Maryhill Health Centre
2. Working Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
3. Full-time, Permanent
Key responsibilities:
4. Deliver highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for adults with complex communication and swallowing difficulties
5. Independently manage a complex caseload, taking responsibility for clinical decision making, care planning and discharge
6. Provide expert advice, training and support to multidisciplinary team members, carers and partner agencies
7. Lead and contribute to service development, audit activity and implementation of evidence-based practice
8. Act as a key worker, coordinating interdisciplinary care and supporting effective rehabilitation pathways
9. Supervise and support junior staff, assistants and students, promoting learning and professional development
10. Maintain accurate clinical records, contribute to data collection and ensure compliance with professional and organisational standards
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
11. Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent with HCPC registration and RCSLT membership
12. Significant postgraduate experience including advanced level knowledge in dysphagia and neuro-rehabilitation
13. Evidence of specialist training, continued professional development and application of evidence-based practice
14. Demonstrable experience managing complex cases and working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team
15. Proven experience of supervision, teaching and supporting development of others
16. Strong analytical, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
17. Knowledge of relevant legislation, professional standards and multi-agency working practices
