As a permanent employee of Peregrine, with access to all our standard benefits, you will be deployed across our portfolio of clients as a specialist consultant, working on a wide array of complex projects across multiple industries. \n\nThe Role: \n\nThe Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization’s networking infrastructure.
The role requires a strong technical background in network technologies and protocols, as well as the ability to diagnose and resolve network failures and recurring issues. The engineer will ensure high levels of network availability, performance, and security to meet the business's operational requirements.\n\nKey responsibilities: \n\nNetwork Configuration & Deployment\n\nConfigure and deploy routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.\n\t\nPerform network equipment upgrades, firmware updates, and patches.\n\t\nImplement and document network configurations, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).\n\t\nAssist in provisioning new network circuits and services.\n\nTroubleshooting & Incident Response\n\nDiagnose, analyse, and resolve network failures and recurring issues in LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.\n\t\nRespond to network-related incidents and service tickets within agreed SLAs.\n\t\nConduct root cause analysis (RCA) for network outages and implement permanent fixes.\n\t\nUse network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG) to proactively detect and resolve performance bottlenecks.\n\nMaintenance & Optimization\n\nMonitor network performance and implement changes to improve speed, reliability, and security.\n\t\nManage network inventory, including IP address allocation and hardware/software assets.\n\t\nRegularly review and update network documentation, diagrams, and configurations.\n\t\nSupport preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and ensure optimal performance.\n\nCollaboration & Support\n\nWork closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support cross-functional IT projects.\n\t\nProvide network expertise in IT change management and business continuity planning.\n\t\nLiaise with vendors and service providers to escalate issues and coordinate external support.\n\t\nOffer technical support and mentoring to junior staff as needed.\n\nSecurity & Compliance\n\nEnforce network security policies, including access controls, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.\n\t\nSupport compliance with regulatory and internal security requirements (e.g., ISO, NIST).\n\t\nConduct regular vulnerability assessments and participate in security audits.\n\nRelevant experience & skills: \n\nStrong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, and subnetting.\n\t\nHands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or equivalent networking equipment including Fortinet Fortigate firewalls and FortiManager, Juniper SRX firewalls and Juniper switches, Cisco ISE for RADIUS and network access control, Cisco Nexus 7000 series switches\n\t\nProficiency in managing firewalls, load balancers, and wireless networks.\n\t\nFamiliarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.\n\t\nF5 LTM (Local Traffic Manager)\n\t\nAkamai CDN and security solutions\n\nAbout us: \n\nAt Peregrine, we see beyond the immediate and look to the horizon.
