GSL Education are seeking a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming school based in the S61 area of Rotherham. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to helping pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) thrive both academically and emotionally.
Role Overview:
As an SEN TA, you will provide targeted support to children with a variety of learning and behavioural needs, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence in a supportive environment. Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will play a key role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning space.
Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions tailored to pupils with SEN.
* Assist in lesson preparation and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.
* Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.
* Help manage behaviour positively and in line with school policies.
* Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists as needed.
Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Prior experience working with children or young people with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH).
* Empathetic, patient, and adaptable in your approach.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A relevant qualification or school-based experience is desirable.
* Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
* Provide a full, up-to-date CV, with explanations for any employment gaps over the past 10 years.
