Job Description
The Behaviour Mentor will work with students who are unable to attend mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, or social challenges, or who are on the verge of being excluded. The role involves providing tailored academic and emotional support, helping students engage with their learning, and promoting positive behaviour and personal development in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support students in small groups or one-to-one settings to access learning activities.
* Assist in the delivery of lessons designed to meet the individual needs of students.
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being, providing encouragement and guidance.
* Help implement behaviour management strategies in collaboration with teaching staff.
* Build strong, supportive relationships with students to foster trust and engagement.
* Monitor and report on student progress and well-being to teaching staff and senior leaders.
* Support with reintegration plans for students transitioning back to mainstream education (where applicable).
Requirements
* Experience working with young people with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties (preferred).
* Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
* A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach.
* Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and provide a safe, nurturing environment.
Essential
* Passion for education and working with young people with challenging behaviour.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent).
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
* Commitment to safeguarding children.
