Location: Leeds, Leeds International Study Centre

Salary: up to £33.57 per hour

Leeds Beckett International Study Centre is looking for a Computer Science and Cyber Security tutor to join its Engineering and Computing team. As a tutor, you will contribute to the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials, and delivery across a range of Computer Science modules at Year One Undergraduate (RQF Level 4). You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our teaching, learning and assessment strategy, broader scholarship and aims for an outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre.

ABOUT THE ROLE
1. Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by Leeds Beckett International Study Centre Prepare and deliver teaching lectures, seminars, and tutorial sessions, with variable hours up to 25 hours per week.
2. Write and prepare unit examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.
3. Mark students’ formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including tutorials and writing regular student reports.
4. Develop and update course material for modules and teaching sessions, including module material for the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
5. Work with the Centre’s administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation, and registration programmes.
6. Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate ongoing welfare and progression support.
7. Track students’ academic journey and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support ongoing learning.
8. Act as a Personal Tutor for one or more groups of students.
9. Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session-level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses.
10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ attendance and performance.
11. Attend and contribute to standardisation, moderation, and other quality assurance meetings.
12. Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programme and student life cycle.
13. Participate in the Centre and University governance structure, including attending all compulsory meetings.
14. Maintain and submit accurate and timely records of teaching and other activities.
15. Participate in regular training and development activities and maintain a log of these activities.
ABOUT YOU
16. A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Information Security (current Master’s students with appropriate experience will also be considered) OR considerable relevant industry experience.
17. Relevant Teaching Qualification or significant experience working with students.
18. Experience and capability of writing comprehensive modules at level 4
19. Experience teaching computer science and engineering modules in the UK Higher or Further education sector, including lab-based teaching, or relevant industry experience that translates well to the classroom.
20. Experience with Object-Oriented programming (Java, Python)
21. Experience in Web designing (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
