Support Worker in Custody (Activity Facilitator)
The Growth Company's (GC) Justice Services is hiring a Support Worker in Custody (Activity Facilitator) for the Creating Future Opportunities (CFO) Evolution Programme. You will provide advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring, and support to participants through one-to-one meetings and group interventions. Help participants in custody prepare for release and resettle into their communities with practical help, advice, and motivation.
We make a lasting difference by supporting individuals to gain meaningful employment. Our skilled advisers and keyworkers assist a range of individuals, from those recently out of work to those with complex barriers like disabilities, mental ill-health, and debt.
This role will involve will be based at HMP Moorland with travel to other HMP sites on occasion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage and Case Manage Participants Identify and support eligible individuals on the CFO Evolution programme, delivering consistent and personalised resettlement support.
2. Conduct Comprehensive Needs Assessments Evaluate participants’ support needs at the outset and through regular reviews to ensure interventions remain relevant and effective.
3. Develop and Implement Action Plans Design tailored action plans incorporating suitable activities, training opportunities, and targeted interventions to promote rehabilitation and reintegration.
4. Deliver Personalised Support Provide advocacy, mentoring, advice, and guidance, alongside bespoke training interventions aligned with each participant’s unique circumstances and goals.
5. Facilitate Engaging Sessions Plan and deliver high-quality one-to-one and group sessions that are interactive, supportive, and focused on personal development.
6. Monitor Progress and Outcomes Track participant engagement and progression, maintaining accurate records to inform ongoing support and programme evaluation.
7. Foster Multi-Agency Collaboration Build and maintain effective working relationships with HMPPS and other partner agencies to ensure coordinated and holistic support.
8. Support Through-the-Gate Transitions Ensure smooth and effective handovers to community-based Support Workers, facilitating continuity of care and sustained resettlement outcomes.
About You:
9. Working with offenders, or those disaffected and marginalised from mainstream services, in training, guidance, advice and counselling environments desirable.
10. High level guidance skills, with the ability to deliver one-to-one and group sessions.
11. A warm, approachable empathetic style and the ability to establish a rapport and build relationships with participants that supports their progression to education, training and employment and facilitates desistance from crime.
Skills Required:
12. Knowledge regarding the issues affecting the rehabilitation of offenders, and desistance theory.
13. Working with offenders, or those disaffected and marginalised from mainstream services, in training, guidance, advice and counselling environments desirable.
14. Knowledge of National Probation Services or HM Prison environments and/or training, education, and employment opportunities locally and nationally, and of training and guidance.
