Local Counter Fraud Specialist
The opening is within Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. The closing date is 04 May 2026. This role is part of the Counter Fraud Plus (CFP) service, which provides a quality counter‑fraud service to several NHS trusts.
Main duties
* Investigate suspicions of NHS fraud and corruption to a criminal standard.
* Promote an anti‑fraud culture across the Trust.
* Provide a quality counter‑fraud service to partner trusts.
* Perform compliance functions, support internal audit and finance operations.
* Present findings to senior leadership and liaise with external agencies.
* Take witness statements, conduct formal interviews under caution and give evidence in court and disciplinary hearings.
Qualifications and Experience
* Fully accredited NHS counter‑fraud specialist.
* Accredited by the University of Portsmouth or other provider; degree‑level qualification.
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
* Significant post‑qualification experience in a counter‑fraud role.
* Practical experience of undertaking fraud investigations.
* Experience presenting findings to Director level.
* Experience taking witness statements and conducting formal interviews under caution.
* Experience giving evidence in court and hearings.
* Operational awareness of NHS functions, procedures and practices (both financial and non‑financial).
* Strong analytical, written and presentation skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
Education
* Degree level or equivalent professional experience.
* GCSE English Language and Mathematics plus three other subjects at grade C or above.
* Further formal qualifications at degree level or above in a relevant subject.
Knowledge and Skills
* Sound knowledge of NHS counter‑fraud issues.
* Excellent written and oral communication and confident presentation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure to tight timescales.
* Capacity to work independently and as a team member.
* Understanding of internal audit and finance department functions (advantageous).
