Overview
Michelham Ward is an acute 21-bedded Gastroenterology ward that treats a variety of gastrointestinal needs, including Crohn’s disease, alcoholic hepatitis, eating disorders, malabsorption disorders, gastrointestinal bleeding, gastric cancers, acute liver diseases, C. difficile and bariatric patients.
Responsibilities
* Promote dignity, respect and privacy in the delivery of care duties
* Obtain vital signs and perform clinical assessments (blood pressure, pulse, oximetry, height, weight, neurological assessment, ECG, respirations, urinalysis, blood glucose, pregnancy testing) and police concerns in line with policy
* Recognise deteriorating patients and engage the escalation process
* Perform delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings
* Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to team working and providing a supportive atmosphere
Qualifications
* Minimum GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4, or functional skills for English/Maths
* Care Certificate and/or NVQ2 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent role
* Experience as a Clinical Support Worker is desirable but not essential
