Senior Occupational Therapist Brighton & Hove Group Treatment Service
Lead Occupational Therapist, Band 6 - part-time (four days per week) position within the Brighton & Hove Group Treatment Service (GTS). The service provides psychoeducational groups and 1:1 sessions for clients in secondary care, with a Recovery model based in CBT, mindfulness, self-compassion and ACT. The role includes leading OT practice, managing referrals and the daily running of the site, and holding a caseload of clients with complex needs.
Job responsibilities
* Lead in developing and maintaining the OT pathway in GTS.
* Provide professional supervision to OT staff.
* Contribute to day-to-day management of GTS and manage referrals into GTS.
* Undertake assessments of individuals and families with complex health presentations; develop care plans with service users.
* Carry a caseload, including lead practitioner duties, and work with patients and carers.
* Offer specialist assessment and advice as required.
* Assess and manage ongoing risks in collaboration with service users and carers; regularly review risk factors.
* Plan and co-facilitate group treatments; facilitate psychoeducational and creative groups.
* Contribute to Trust strategies and ensure clinical practice is evidence-based and aligned with NICE guidelines and Trust policies.
* Participate in regular supervision and provide supervision of junior staff and trainees where appropriate.
* Act within professional code of conduct and scope of practice at all times.
Qualifications and experience
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy; registered with HCPC; post-graduate study/training.
* Management/leadership training; experience with standardised OT assessment tools.
* Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health; broad experience with a range of mental health problems; experience of group and individual work; multidisciplinary working; supervising staff and students; care coordination.
* Leadership experience; experience in applying a range of assessment tools and OT approaches used in mental health.
