Product Safety Engineer - Defence Prime | Bristol (3 Days Onsite)
Join a leading UK Defence Prime delivering some of the most complex and safety-critical engineering programmes in the industry.
We're looking for an experienced Product Safety Engineer to help ensure the safe delivery of advanced defence systems used in real-world operational environments.
This role is based in Bristol, with a hybrid setup requiring 3 days per week onsite with highly skilled systems, hardware, software, and programme teams.
?? What You'll Be Doing
You'll play a key role in supporting the safety lifecycle across a range of cutting-edge defence projects, including:
* Developing and maintaining Product Safety Management Plans
* Conducting hazard identification, FMECA, FHA, FTA and other safety analyses
* Producing and reviewing Safety Cases and technical justification
* Working closely with engineering teams to ensure designs meet applicable safety standards
* Supporting compliance activities across the development and verification process
* Engaging with stakeholders, certifiers, and customers on safety matters

??? What We're Looking For
* Experience in Product Safety Engineering within defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated domains
* Knowledge of standards such as DEF-STAN 00-056, IEC 61508, ARP 4761, or equivalents
* Strong analytical mindset with experience in safety analysis techniques
* Ability to develop and maintain safety documentation and assurance evidence
* Confident communicator able to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams
* UK nationality required due to project security requirements
