Planning Graduate – Role Overview
We are looking for a Planning Graduate to work on the development of a range of Planning Policy areas, working with Officers and specialists from across the Council to support sustainable, inclusive development. The team plays a vital role in driving growth and regeneration whilst protecting the natural environment and will offer opportunities to work on diverse projects, including the development of new digital planning systems that provide a customer‑focused service.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the preparation of the Local Plan and related policy documents.
* Build consensus on key policy issues by collaborating with Council Officers, specialists and external stakeholders.
* Prepare consultation documents, reports, and evidence compilations to support policy development.
* Assist in the delivery of digital planning systems and other technology‑enabled projects.
* Contribute to the Planning Policy Team’s goal of providing an efficient, high‑quality, resilient, and customer‑focused Planning Service.
Qualifications
* Interest in Planning Policy and a desire to support the Local Plan.
* Strong communication, report‑writing and analytical skills.
* Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholders.
* Commitment to sustainable, inclusive development and a willingness to learn and adapt.
