Job Description:
We are seeking an Electrical Control and Instrumentation Systems Engineer for a full-time position based in Derby, with onsite work and flexible working arrangements (3 days in the office, 2 days WFH). The role involves working on the new generation of submarine EC&I systems, including Dreadnought and SSNA projects.
The EC&I sub-system teams handle the end-to-end design, integration, commissioning, and support of power systems, control, and sensors for reactor control and safety. Responsibilities include product design, detailed design, verification & validation, and supporting build and commissioning activities. The role offers opportunities to work across various sub-systems and collaborate with internal and external teams, including supply chain and manufacturing support.
Why work at Rolls-Royce? We are an iconic brand at the forefront of innovation, providing critical power systems with a focus on safety and reliability. We offer excellent development opportunities, competitive salary, and benefits such as bonuses, support assistance, and employee discounts. We support hybrid working to promote work-life balance.
Your responsibilities will include designing control and sensor products, integrating subsystems, defining commissioning strategies, and supporting external teams. You will specify product requirements, verify designs, manage requirements traceability, review documentation, and assist with build and commissioning issues.
Qualifications include a degree or equivalent in electrical/electronics engineering, membership in a professional institution (e.g., IET), experience in architecture design, V&V, requirements capture, and a background in power/control electronics or sensor systems. Desirable skills include experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS) and knowledge of NSRP electrical systems.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming applications from all backgrounds, including refugees. A UK security check clearance is required, which Rolls-Royce will support.
