PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Assistant Editor for BBC News Streaming manages live news streams, their curation on iPlayer, and platform availability. The role requires a tech-savvy editor with a strong understanding of streaming technologies and editorial components, directing resources in the Streaming Control Centre to deliver live streams effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* Lead a data-driven, agile team to develop and adapt our streaming services to audience needs, working closely with the Streaming and News Editors.
* Oversee daily output on iPlayer, ensuring it meets audience needs through analytics and research, and coordinate team efforts across BBC platforms.
* Manage the daily amplification of news moments, especially during breaking news, overseeing team members working round-the-clock.
* Innovate continuously, pushing boundaries in live video news, with a focus on major events and digital audience engagement.
* Assist in managing the team, working with the News Editor and Deputy Editor, with some line management duties, across various shifts including weekends and evenings.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* Experience managing live news output for digital-first products, with a proven ability to make high-pressure decisions.
* Strong editorial judgment, with knowledge of BBC policies, media law, and regulations in BVOD and SVOD.
* Extensive experience producing live programming across various subjects, from breaking news to planned events.
* Knowledge of newsroom tools and techniques for live video production.
* Ability to motivate teams and make data-driven decisions.
* Experience managing changing priorities in a fast-paced news environment.
