We have an excellent opportunity for a Compass Team Practitioner to join our Compass Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a Full‑time, Permanent basis.
As a Compass Team Practitioner, you will proactively support children to remain safely at home or within their networks, minimizing unplanned moves and keeping them in placements for as long as appropriate. Working collaboratively with partner agencies, you will build relationships with children and families experiencing complex needs, dispute, conflict, and risks, responding in a timely manner to families in crisis to prevent family breakdown.
You’ll deliver evidence‑based parenting interventions and manage a complex caseload, conducting home and community visits to assess risks and safeguard children. Collaborating with partners such as schools and mental health services, you will drive early identification and proactive support while staying current with policy and restorative approaches.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage complex caseloads
* Provide rapid crisis support using speedy mediation, conflict resolution, and rapid response support to prevent family breakdown, including out-of-hours call-outs when necessary.
* Deliver evidence-based interventions
* Assess needs and plan outcomes by conducting effective risk assessments
* Maintain professional standards
Candidate Requirements
* Experience of working with children and adults in varying contexts.
* Ability to work in a relationship-based way using systemic and trauma-informed approaches.
* Collaborative working skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships both with families you work with and the professional network surrounding them.
