Neurodiversity Practitioner (ADHD) ANP/ ACP - Band 8A

This is an exciting opportunity to join Paxton Medical Group as an ANP / ACP/ Neurodiversity Practitioner and lead the development and delivery of our new ADHD and Neurodevelopmental primary care service (replacing the former LEAP service). This senior clinical leadership role will focus on shaping, delivering, and continuously improving ADHD services, ensuring timely access, high-quality assessment, and evidence-based treatment for our patient population. You will work autonomously in complex clinical situations while also providing strategic leadership, clinical expertise, and workforce development. The role includes representing the organisation in system-wide discussions with ICB and partner organisations, working alongside Healthier Neighbourhoods PCN, helping to drive improvements in neurodevelopmental care. Main duties of the job

You will:

* Lead the ADHD and Neurodevelopmental service, ensuring safe, effective, and timely care for patients.
* Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of ADHD, including prescribing where appropriate
* Develop and support the Non-Medical Prescribing workforce
* Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), supporting complex clinical decision‑making
* Build strong partnerships within primary care, community services, mental health providers, and voluntary sector organisations
* Drive service transformation and innovation, aligned with organisational and system priorities
* Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and education to staff
* Support improvements in access, quality, and patient outcomes within neurodevelopmental care

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Practice and Service Delivery

* Deliver expert‑level clinical care, including ADHD assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
* Manage a specialist caseload, including complex and co‑occurring conditions
* Prescribe medications independently where qualified (or work towards this)
* Develop and implement evidence‑based care pathways
* Ensure safe, effective, and patient‑centred care

2. Leadership and Service Development

* Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of ADHD services
* Develop innovative models of care aligned with organisational priorities
* Contribute to strategic planning and service transformation
* Represent the organisation at local and regional forums
* Support integration across services where appropriate

3. Education, Training and Workforce Development

* Provide clinical supervision and mentorship
* Lead development of the Non‑Medical Prescribing workforce
* Design and deliver training programmes for multidisciplinary staff
* Promote a learning culture within the organisation

4. Quality, Governance and Research

* Lead clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
* Ensure adherence to NICE guidance and national standards
* Contribute to service evaluation and research activity
* Support development and implementation of policies and protocols
* Participate in investigation of incidents and continuous improvement processes

5. Partnership Working

* Build effective relationships across:
* Primary care
* Mental health services
* Community providers
* Voluntary sector
* Promote multi‑agency collaboration for complex cases
* Engage with patients, families, and carers in service development and feedback


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Qualifications (Essential)
* Registered healthcare professional (e.g. Nurse, Pharmacist, AHP) with relevant regulatory body
* MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent)
* Independent Non‑Medical Prescriber
* Evidence of continuous professional development


Experience

* Significant experience working within ADHD / neurodevelopmental services
* Experience at Band 7 level or above, including leadership responsibilities
* Experience of clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD
* Experience of service development and transformation
* Experience of leading teams and supervising staff
* Experience of multi‑agency working
* Advanced clinical assessment and decision‑making skills
* Strong understanding of ADHD, neurodiversity, and co‑occurring conditions
* Knowledge of wider healthcare systems and pathways
* Ability to lead strategic development and implement change
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Ability to analyse and apply evidence, research, and data
