Overview
We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our team based in Totnes. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,368 - £40,729 per annum. You will also receive a guaranteed standby allowance, plus additional payments for call out and overtime opportunities. You will also be entitled to a company van and a range of excellent company benefits. You will be required to work a 37 hour week and benefit from 1 in 4 Fridays off.
About the role: As the Planned Mechanical Craftsperson (Planned Mechanical Maintenance Engineer) you will take ownership of fault finding, repairing and maintaining South West Water assets across a range of Waste Water company sites, treatment works and sewage pumping stations. To help ensure maximum asset availability and support the South West Water Vision by assisting by minimising risk to compliance and preventing pollution. You will provide services to a high standard in a sustainable manner that meets the required internal and external customer service levels, whilst minimising risk to compliance and meeting quality requirements.
What you will be doing
* Carry out planned maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship including, but not limited to: monitor, fault find, maintain and repair a wide variety of equipment on Wastewater Treatment sites, including pumps, gearboxes, and specialist treatment process machinery
* Apply first level maintenance activities to all onsite assets
* Large plant complex repairs
* Work in potentially challenging environments (breathing apparatus, confined spaces, at height if required)
* Development of new skills both in and outside of your core discipline, such as electrical disconnections and installation/maintenance of equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres
* Collaborate with other disciplines in a workshop/mobile team
* Maintain health and safety awareness to work safely
* Maintain training and competencies in line with the job requirements including participation in the M+E competency framework
* Provide recommended/specification of parts for stock ordering and repair
* Manufacturing and fabrication of parts and equipment as needed
* Undertake training to carry out work activities safely and legally
* Carry out scheduled work activities and assist Operational staff with complex problems
* Keep internal customers updated on activities that may impact their processes
* Use or request method statements and safe systems of work for activities
* Act as the duty mechanical craft person on a standby/call-out rota basis
What we are looking for
* A completed Apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
* A full understanding of related RAMS to deliver an effective and safe maintenance regime
* Experience of working with Waste Water treatment processes would be desirable
* Ability to fault find and repair large complex pieces of mechanical equipment
* A full UK driving license is required
* CompEx 11
* Welding or Fabrication experience
