Job Description:
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor with substantial experience in this area of law and practice. This role offers an opportunity to develop and enhance your skills while undertaking varied work.
You will work as part of a team of Contract Lawyers to provide legal advice on issues such as Public Contract Regulations, Company law, Subsidy Control, NEC and JCT construction Contracts, and general contract queries. You will handle a full, varied caseload.
Senior Lawyers will participate in team management and may deputise for the Principal Solicitor, contributing to the delivery of legal services.
If you are an effective, dynamic individual with some management experience and team motivation skills, we want to hear from you!
Shortlisting Criteria
Applicants should demonstrate:
* Eligibility to practise in England and Wales as a Solicitor, barrister, or Fellow of CILEX, with a current practicing certificate
* Experience in negotiating and drafting construction contracts, service agreements, and facilities management services
* Ability to provide solutions-focused advice and learn quickly about new subjects
* Effective teamwork and management of priorities to meet deadlines
* Leadership and organizational skills in client and project meetings
* Advising Members and Senior Officers of the Council
The role is hybrid, with remote work considered. Occasional office attendance may be required, and the candidate will need to collect their laptop from our Reigate office on the first day.
You will assist in managing a team of lawyers, providing leadership, supervision, and expert legal advice to the County Council, its members, officers, and committees.
The role involves managing a demanding caseload, delivering solutions with minimal supervision, and supporting the council's goal to reduce reliance on external legal support. Advocacy may be required.
You will support the Monitoring Officer in advising the Council on legal issues and contribute to staff training on legal updates and emerging issues.
