Overview
A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Band 6 physiotherapist to work in our Emergency Department Therapy Team service at Royal Derby Hospital. This service forms part of a multidisciplinary Frail Elderly Assessment team covering the Emergency Department, Frailty Same Day Emergency Care, Medical Assessment Unit and two General Medicine wards. The team collaborates with the Trust\'s Frailty Specialist Nurses, Acute Consultant Geriatrician and Advanced Clinical Practitioners to provide wrap-around care for identified frailty and rehabilitation needs.
You will be part of a team focused on identifying the therapeutic needs of individuals using dual competencies and strength-based approaches to maximise therapy potential, aiming to avoid admission and enable safe transfers of care from the acute hospital setting. The team identifies rehabilitation needs early and delivers ongoing rehab across clinical areas. We have links with the community rapid response team for timely, patient-centred referrals in front-door areas. The Senior Physiotherapy team provides acute respiratory physiotherapy to front-door areas and contributes to the Royal Derby Hospital respiratory on-call rota.
Responsibilities
* Provide advanced therapy assessment and treatment to patients on the Medical Assessment Unit, Emergency Department and two acute medicine wards.
* Deliver respiratory physiotherapy in front-door areas and contribute to the Trust\'s Respiratory Physiotherapy on-call rota.
* Supervise and teach junior therapists, students and assistants; delegate workload and provide support.
* Work with Team Leaders to develop, lead and evaluate the SDEC/MAU/A&E therapy service to meet organisational targets and standards.
* Be an integral member of the ED Therapy team, providing clinical and managerial support within the team.
Leadership and Development
* Provide clinical leadership and staff development to the dual-professional team; encourage cross-competency working and ongoing service development.
* Support early mobilisation initiatives to positively impact patient care outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Band 6 Physiotherapist with evidence of experience in Emergency Department therapy, frailty care, and respiratory physiotherapy.
* Experience in supervising and teaching junior staff and students; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
