Job overview

We are recruiting a Management of Violence and Aggression Advisor to assist in the delivery of training within the service.

You will support the senior instructors and trust lead in the planning, implementation and development of the Managing Aggression & Violence services.

We are looking for an experienced healthcare professional who is committed to supporting and delivering training within the trust, using least restrictive practices, and have a understanding of symptoms of distress, to take on the role of Managing Aggression and Violence (MAV) Advisor.

Main duties of the job

The trainer's objective is to deliver training packages, incorporating theory and practical sessions, inline with the restraint reduction programme. focusing on the primary prevention of violence, de-escalation techniques prior to physical intervention, and the necessity of choosing interventions that are reasonable and proportionate to the assessed risk.

Our team is proactive and positive in developing programmes that are dedicated to decreasing incidents that challeng our services by understanding the underlying causes of distress and providing alternative perspectives to prevent future occurrences.

1. Establish a rapport with learners.

3. Support and adapt courses to learners’ needs.

7. Provides general advice during training sessions

Qualifications

Essential criteria

8. NVQ level 2 or 3 or the equivalent experience.

Desirable criteria

9. Qualification in group training skills Leadership Training
10. Accredited Management of Aggression and Violence Instructor qualification

Training

Essential criteria

11. Must be up to date with current mandatory training including attendance on MAV courses defined by current job role

Desirable criteria

12. Suzy Lamplugh / personal safety qualification
13. First Aid at Work Certificate
14. ILS/BLS

Experience

Essential criteria

15. Experience of working in either a mental health or learning disability service
16. Knowledge of Mental Health Act and Dolls pertaining to MVA and NICE
17. Knowledge of contemporary issues in PMVA
18. Demonstrate an understanding of current legislation with respect to the use of force act and how this relates into clinical practice and PMVA training

Desirable criteria

19. Supervisory experience
20. Leading Group training sessions
