LEAD DRILLER - CABLE PERCUSSION (CP)

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
What you’ll do:
At Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions (GCES), we deliver innovative, sustainable, and high-quality geotechnical solutions that support major infrastructure projects. We’re looking for an experienced Lead Cable Percussion Drilling Operative to lead safe, efficient, and high-quality CP drilling operations on site.
What you’ll do
1. Operate and maintain Cable Percussion (CP) drilling rigs
2. Lead and supervise on-site CP drilling teams
3. Prepare sites, set up plant and equipment, and carry out drilling works
4. Complete open-hole drilling, core drilling, and rock coring
5. Ensure accurate sampling, logging, and daily records
6. Act as the on-site representative, providing progress updates to management
Key Responsibilities:
7. Deliver CP drilling works safely, on time, and to specification
8. Allocate daily tasks and mentor less experienced operatives
9. Ensure compliance with HSE, CDM, and RAMS requirements
10. Lead toolbox talks and site safety briefings
11. Carry out equipment checks, routine maintenance, and defect reporting
12. Maintain high standards of quality, professionalism, and client satisfaction
What we’re looking for:
Essential
13. Proven experience in Cable Percussion (CP) drilling and ground investigations
14. Strong knowledge of open-hole, core, and rock coring techniques
15. Experience supervising site teams
16. Good understanding of HSE regulations and site safety requirements
17. Experience working on infrastructure, utilities, or construction projects
